Things got pretty scary for Ryan Lochte during last night’s premiere of Dancing with the Stars, but it had nothing to do with his nerves.

According to People, the Olympic swimmer and his partner Cheryl Burke had just finished their Foxtrot, and judge Carrie Ann Inaba was giving her feedback when two men rushed the stage.

“Excuse me! Hey, back off! Excuse me, excuse me. Off, off,” Inaba could be heard saying before they quickly cut to commercial.

The men, who were apparently Lochte protesters, and were then apprehended by security and ushered off stage.

Four women who were evidently with the men and also wearing anti-Lochte t-shirts continued to boo from the audience until they were also removed from the set.

Both Lochte and Burke were visibly shaken when the live show returned from commercial break, and the swimmer told host Tom Bergeron, “So many feelings are going through my head.”

In another statement to People, pro dancer Lindsay Arnold recalled of the incident, “I was backstage and when I heard the commotion I ran to the side of the stage and I was just in shock. I couldn’t believe it was happening. I think it’s a shame that people would feel the need to do that. Ryan is just a guy who is coming here to entertain and get a fresh start and it’s sad that such a happy night of dance was disrupted like that.”

The protest was likely in response to Lochte’s drama at the Rio Olympics this last month, but that has not yet been specified.
