By Frank Williams Jr.

What has your cat done for you lately? Probably not much, but one family is very thankful their house cat acted like a guard dog and protected their home from an attempted burglary.

Barb Gansberg was getting ready at home alone with her cat Strider when he walked into their bedroom, where he’s not allowed to go. He stood there in the forbidden zone, looking at his owner, signalling to her that something was wrong. When she went out to check on things, she found two burglars in her house holding her purse.

She yelled “hey” to them and they ran off, only making it a block before police caught them. So their furry hero earned some real tuna for his fearless efforts. “Yeah, he may have saved the day,” Gansberg says. “I didn’t know the cat had it in him.”
