Rascal Flatts’ Christmas album, “The Greatest Gift of All,” comes out Friday, and in order to have it ready in time the band was forced to record their holiday songs during the middle of the summer.

While you may think it’s hard to get into the Christmas spirit when it’s hot out, the guys in the band did their best by stringing lights in the studio and having their drummer wear a Santa hat the whole time.

They also had a broken air conditioner in the studio, which made it freezing, and they had one other secret weapon. As Gary Levox explains, “lots of egg nog.”
