High school can be hard on kids, but one student in Greenwood, South Carolina helped make it a little easier for a classmate recently. When senior Tae Moore heard that Taylor Bates was being mistreated on campus, he decided to do something to brighten his day.

Moore heard that other students were teasing Bates about the way he dresses and even though they had only met a day before he asked what size shoe he wore. And Moore went to Foot Locker and bought Bates a pair of retro 1 Jordans sneakers.

Bates shared his story on his Instagram page, explaining what happened when his new buddy gave him the shoes. He says Moore said, “I heard people have been bullying you, so I wanted to get you these to make you feel better.” Bates says then he hugged him and almost cried. And Moore told him “And if anybody is bullying you, you let me know, alright?” Bates thanked him and says he was so happy he felt like crying. Now he’s got new shoes, but more importantly, he has someone who has his back.
