ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith did not mince words in regard to Colin Kaepernick’s decision not to vote.
The 49ers quarterback had previously spoke out against both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, calling them “proven liars.” But given the nature of his heavily-publicized protest, which involved kneeling during the national anthem before games, it is surprising he abstained from casting a ballot.
Smith responded on Wednesday, calling Kaepernick a “flaming hypocrite,” adding the quarterback “betrayed his cause.”
“After all this noise that you made, even though you didn’t intend to do so, by offending our military servicemen and women, and pointing out about how you wanted to bring attention to racial injustices and beyond in this country, to turn around and not even take your behind to the polls to vote for a particular candidate, it is shameful!” Smith said. “Absolutely shameful!”
