Emma Stone could have been a Nickelodeon child star.

Before Stone hosts Saturday Night Live for the third time this weekend, she visited to the Tonight Show on Thursday.

Jimmy Fallon asked Stone if she had ever auditioned for Saturday Night Live. While her answer was no, the actor revealed at age 12 she attempted to get onto a different sketch comedy show.

“I went to an open call for All That,” Stone began, explaining how her parents drove her from Arizona. “I guess it was sort of like SNL, except I didn’t know that you had to have characters – so I thought they were going to give us sketches [to read].”

Realizing she was unprepared, Stone quickly made up two characters that, honestly, weren’t half bad. Nonetheless, she fell short in making it on the show.

Luckily, things turned out alright for her.
