Dolly Parton and her famous friends are raising money for a good cause.
Parton has organized the Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund telethon, which will air on multiple networks tonight at 8pm EST/ 5pm PST.
Fans can listen to the full telethon stream here.
Artists participating include: Kenny Rogers, Hank Williams Jr., Chris Stapleton, Reba McEntire, Alison Krauss, Michael W. Smith, Chris Janson, Big & Rich, LOCASH, Chris Young, Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson, Cyndi Lauper, Don McLean, Amy Grant, Alabama, Aaron Lewis and Rhonda Vincent.
More than 1,300 families have been displaced after wildfires spread across Parton’s home area of Sevier County, TN in late November. Parton established the Dollywood Foundation My People Fund to provide $1,000 each month for six months to every family who lost their primary residence.
Both Taylor Swift and Kenny Chesney has already stepped up making donations in excess of $100k each.
“The donations that are already coming in are so special to me,” said Parton in a prepared statement. “It means there are a lot of people behind us and ready to help us. There is still so much need to support the people of the Smoky Mountains, but thanks to Taylor and Kenny and both the ACM and CMA for gettin’ us started with such huge donations.”
Fans wishing to donate to the worthy cause can do so at the Dollywood Foundation’s official website.
