To the everyman, Jimmy Kimmel’s payment for hosting the Academy Awards this February would be a nice payday. However, considering he’s one of the biggest names in late-night television – that makes an estimated $10 million annually – it’s basically pocket change.
During an appearance on KROQ’s “Kevin & Bean” morning show on Wednesday, Kimmel revealed he’ll be paid $15,000 to host the Oscars ceremony.
“I’m not sure I was supposed to reveal this,” Kimmel said. “But nobody told me not to. I consider this their fault.”
“They asked like 14 people and they all said no and then there was me,” Kimmel joked. “I absolutely was surprised.”
The 89th Academy Awards will air live Sunday, Feb. 27, 2017, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
