In his first broadcast since the untimely death of his 23-year-old son Jamie, Red Wings play-by-play announcer Ken Daniels addressed the tragedy.

“It will be a different life from here on in,” Daniels began. “I must thank all of you for your thoughts and your prayers in this most difficult of times, and the support of the Red Wings and the NHL family is what’s getting us through.”

His fellow FOX Sports Detroit broadcast partner Mickey Redmond welcomed Daniels back with words of encouragement.

“It’s great to have you back in the chair where you belong,” Redmond told Daniels.”The game of hockey is a great healer and it’s good to have you back.”

Jamie passed away in his sleep on Dec. 7.
