After sharing a list of the best public high schools in Metro Detroit for 2017 last month, I’d be remiss not to give credit to the best school districts in the region.

Niche ranked the best districts in Michigan using data from the U.S. Department of Education and graded them on “state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, and high school ratings.”

From that list, below are the best school districts in Metro Detroit for 2017:

1. Bloomfield Hills Schools (#1 in Michigan) – 
Bloomfield Charter Township, MI

2. Birmingham Public Schools (#2 in Michigan) –
Birmingham, MI

3. Grosse Pointe Public Schools (#3 in Michigan) –
Village of Grosse Point Shores, MI

4. Troy School District (#5 in Michigan) –
Troy, MI

5. Novi Community School District (#6 in Michigan) 
Novi, MI

6. Ann Arbor Public Schools (#7 in Michigan) –
Ann Arbor, MI

7. Northville Public Schools (#9 in Michigan) –
Northville Township, MI

8. Saline Area Schools (#12 in Michigan) 
Saline Township, MI

9. Rochester Community School District (#13 in Michigan) –
Rochester Hills, MI

10. Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (#16 in Michigan) –
Canton Charter Township, MI
