Brett Young Surprises Winner Of Contest For Stars And Strings Presented By Ram Trucks Built To Serve

"Hey, Brian and Kim, get in."

November 11, 2019

A tall, blue-eyed man in a ballcap walked around the side of a Ram truck gleaming sleek and dark on a Detroit curb and said, "Hey, Brian and Kim, get in."

With that, Brian and Kim Perryman of Houston, Texas, were whisked off on the adventure of a lifetime, touring the city with country music superstar Brett Young. The adventure was part of the package the Perrymans won from RADIO.COM in the Road to Stars And Strings contest. The listeners to 100.3 The Bull in Houston also got airfare, tickets to the show, and a hotel stay.

"That absolutely floored me right there," said Brian Perryman about the moment he learned he wasn't just going to the show, he was Brett Young's guest at the show. And he was getting one-on-one time with the singer whose hits include "Mercy" and "Like I Loved You."

Young added that it was fun for him, too. "It was so fun to see their faces when they found out we were doing this for Folds of Honor and for servicemen and women and their families."

Perryman said Folds of Honor is "near and dear to my heart, man."

Stars and Strings is a stripped down acoustic concert celebrating our nation’s military heroes and their families. The show at Detroit's historic Fox Theatre featured the biggest names in country music, performing solo and in various combinations.  Stars and Strings was presented by Ram Trucks - Built to Serve.

This year's lineup featured a soulful Keith Urban, spirited Lady Antebellum, Kelsea Ballerini, Ryan Hurd, Maren Morris, Jon Pardi, and Brett Young.

"The show was amazing," Perryman said. "I mean it was just absolutely amazing. I was just blessed to be there. And that theater? I've never seen anything like it."
