Garth Brooks has signed a week-long contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and has already joined the team for some spring training. According to reports, Garth reported on February 11th, and will be with the team until late next week. No, he's not changing careers. Garth is once again participating in his Teammates For Kids charity, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
This marks Garth's fourth stint with a Major League Baseball club during pre-season, having previously trained with the San Diego Padres (1999), New York Mets (2000) and Kansas City Royals (2004).
To date, Garth's Teammates for Kids Foundation has raised more than $100 million for children's charities. The foundation pairs children with professional athletes.
So @GarthBrooks just made me promise to show you only the good plays he made in taking grounders at third. Keeping my word, here it is: ;) #DKPS #Pirates pic.twitter.com/ACViPiPVew

So it was Garth Brooks who reached out to the Pirates, his childhood favorite team because of Roberto Clemente. This trial is part of Garth’s 20th-year charity initiative for children. I just asked him to expound on Clemente: #DKPS #Pirates pic.twitter.com/eDJzLU1qQt
